Some Useful Tips for Your Bridal Make Up

One day that seems to be the most important in your life beside the day when you were born, is the wedding day. This is planned already to take place in the near future and till then you are supposed to gather all your forces into planning the aspect of both your weeding atmosphere and that of your bridal look. This last aspect is always complemented by a nice looking make up, actually the best bridal make up that you can get as this one should be totally different than the one you were used to wear up to now.

But with your wedding event the use of make up requires the knowledge of at least the most popular and widely used make up advice. This will include the application of your foundation, the use of the eyeliners and concealers, the eye shadow, lop liner, and lipstick. The following bridal make up tips should help you into taking proper care of applying these products:
* The foundation cream that you use should match the skin color of your face and your neck. If you use a lighter or darker nuance, you will fail to define the natural appearance of your skin. When choosing the foundation cream you can check it on your arm skin to see in what way it matches the color of your skin.

* If you have decided upon the foundation cream color, you should proceed into cleaning your face and neck with a damp cloth or tissue paper removing as such the dust particles.
* When applying the foundation use a soft pad avoiding the harsh rubbing. Through the gentle application you can ensure a uniformly applied layer of foundation of your face and your neck.
* Do not forget to use the concealers in order to hide the pimples or blemishes. Do not also apply the concealer in a thick layer as it can become darker emphasizing more the specific spot rather than concealing it.  Use a concealer that has the same shade with the one of the foundation used.

* Use eyeliner of a light color if the dress is of light color, too. Use the eyelid base also light colored as in this way it can help to a better blending into the skin tone providing a more prominent complexion.
* The use of lipstick and lip gloss should be done in perfect accordance with the style of the dress. If the dress is that of a bolder design, then  the choice of red lipstick can work great, especially for the wedding photos that you need to take.

The Foundation encourages women to wear the lipstick throughout the month and gain sponsorship from family, friends and co-workers. A chic and wonderful initiative.

POPS OF ORANGE

Worn with prints and colour blocking, it’s clear orange is in. Karla Spetic paired orange lips with every colour imaginable at her S/S 2011 show, including navy, lime and lilac. With a slick ’do and fresh skin, orange will work for you, too.

For the brightest of the bunch, head to British brand Illamasqua. Known for their vivid hues and professional quality, Flare is our orange of choice.

The prettiest shade of coral was on show at Camilla and Marc. Created by Lancôme’s national make-up artist Michael Brown, he reveals, “We mixed two shades of L’Absolu Rouge together. The first was an orange-based red to create depth and then a coral colour was layered on top to add a little sheen.” For a similar finish, try L’Absolu Nu in 302 Voile de Rose. Lightweight, lovely and very moisturising, it’s a gorgeous pick-me-up for every complexion.

Bridal Guide

Bridal Guide is a lengthy magazine designed to appeal to brides in waiting and to those women who see marriage on the horizon. This magazine is devoted to bridal fashion and to other things that are involved in making the day special and memorable. Besides the fashion, one can read about wedding planning, honeymoon ideas, photography, and other wedding- related things.
When you read a copy of Bridal Guide, what stands out more than anything are the photos. This is the main reason people read this magazine in the first place: To look at wedding attire and compare different styles. Models wearing wedding gowns are abundant in this publication and some of the bridal gowns they adorn are quite stunning. To help future brides make a possible purchase, it is common to find a phone number and/or a web site with the majority of the photos. Bridal attire is the main focus of this magazine, but there are also some pictures of grooms and of other wedding party members, with models displaying other fashions for sale, once again complete with phone number and web page.

The part of this magazine that focuses its attention on honeymoons and travel is probably my favorite part of the issue. What I like is the fact that this is one part of the magazine that can appeal/apply to anyone, regardless of marital status. These honeymoon tips and destination information provide some good reading material for the bride to be or anyone else who happens to read the magazine.

Bridal Guide is a very lengthy publication, with each issue containing around 500 pages! This is more than double the length of most other magazines and it can make the issue seem a little overwhelming at times. Also, this magazine is saturated with ads. Since the majority of the gown- clad models are, in effect, advertisements for a specific fashion brand, one can expect to find ads covering the vast majority of this magazine's pages. This could be annoying to some, but one must bear in mind that the magazine's focus is wedding planning, so excessive advertising is expected.
For young brides- to- be or bridal wannabes, this is a handy magazine to have around. It's very long, but it contains lots of fashion and wedding planning ideas to make the big day one to remember forever.

What is The Balayage Effect?

What is balayage?
Balayage is a French colouring technique that was developed in the 1970s. It’s a freehand technique where the colour is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. Balayage can be used in even the shortest pixie crop however the best results is in hair below the shoulders.

The appeal
You can achieve so many different effects from soft, natural highlights to something strong and punky. The fact it’s so low maintenance is such a drawcard for women too. People want to look fashionable and feel good about their appearance but in this day and age we don't all have the time to be in the salon every few weeks for a touch up.
It’s also a very economical way to colour your hair as you never have a solid demarcation line or regrowth, so if you can’t afford to get it done for another month it won't look atrocious. However, if your balayage isn't done correctly you can end up with excessive overlapping that can cause damage.

How it’s done
The process varies depending on the length of the hair and the desired result. You can expect to have individual strands coloured with a brush and a backing board. Some colourists like to separate their sections with cotton wool or foil, others tease the hair in sections first then freehand colour the ends.
I find that all my balayage clients are going for different looks and need to maintain it at different rates. You will need to have a minimum of three appointments to really build up the colour initially. These appointments are spaced six weeks apart. From there you could go up to four months without having more balayage. You would just need to come in for a toner and a treatment to freshen up the colour in between appointments.

Is it for me?
Balayage is best done on natural hair, but never fear, most of the work I do to create a balayage look is initially done with foils until the hair is ready to have only balayage. There are many different techniques that people use to create this look. If you’re seeing a colour specialist they should always be able to come up with a technique to achieve the look you desire that best suits your hair type and colour history.

The best hairstyles for balayage
I always love to see balayage finished with loose curls or a beachy, tousled look where you can see the colour variations ribbon through the hair. Sharp, strong haircuts like a bob require a stronger colour or a block colour to show off the cut. Balayage is best left to more flowing hairstyles.

Top maintenance tips
Balayage will dry your hair out no more than classic foiling as long as you have a trained professional applying your colour. As with foils you should always use salon professional shampoos and conditioners as well as have regular treatments. No matter what the technique, your colour will always look its best if your hair is in good condition.

Does balayage have an expiry date?
The technique has been around for so long and will remain an integral part of the way we colour in the salon for as long as I can foresee. However, the trend at the moment with the heavy graduation from dark to light is constantly changing. It started out about five years ago being very subtle with people like Gisele Bundchen being a favourite. A more natural, sun-kissed effect was desired then. In the last few years we have seen much stronger effects being worn, for example [stylist] Pip Edwards, who has really taken it to the next level. This winter we have seen the same techniques used but with a warmer, deeper feel. Lots of celebrities have their balayage finished with copper or red glosses and this is now being called the new ombre look.

Alternatives to balayage
At Colour Lounge I love to use different foiling techniques to create a more structured, gradual fade out effect. I put more ribbon-sized weaves with a lighter colour through the interior of the hair then I work up to deeper colours and softer weaves as I work up to the hairline and partline. It’s a truly beautiful way to create variation in the colour while maintaining a more structured technique that can be worn in many different styles.

The Ponytail Looks You Need to Know for Spring

Alex Perry hairstylist: Dario Cotroneo for Alterna Caviar.
“Alex and I chose to do a really minimalistic ponytail in line with the top of the eyebrow to get maximum facelift", says hairstylist Dario Cotroneo.

"To create that overconfident hair, first we ironed the hair with Alterna Styling Tonic to give it weight so the ponytail doesn’t fall apart, then we secured the ponytail with hat elastic. Our trick to get that really slick, perfect look was to do two ponytails and then tie them together to create one.  We sectioned off the hair horizontally and we did a ponytail with the bottom half of the hair to secure the hairline, then we did a top ponytail. This allowed us to make the hair nice and smooth. Finally, we tied elastic around both ponytails to bring them together.”

Christopher Esber hairstylist: Frank Apostolopoulos for MoroccanOil

Christopher Esber’s ponies were sleek but not too perfect. Pulled together with fingertips, manes were gelled and flyaways encouraged for a look that contrasted Esber’s structured outfits. Apply MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream and MoroccanOil Luminous Hairspray to achieve this effect.

Kirrily Johnston hairstylist: Renya Xydis for ghd

“The hair was based on Kirrily herself, she always has a fringe and a ponytail", explains Xydis. "This season, she wanted the hair quite architectural and feline. The feline is the tightness and the architecture is the shape of the fringe. I used ghd Miracle Mist to blow-dry into the hair, then added a bit of Fat Hair Lotion to the ponytail and used a ghd Styler to straighten. To finish off, I used ghd’s Ultimate Hairspray.”
